LiCAM by NWS Digital

Detecting people without identifying them

The LiCAM monitors perimeters, sites and interiors using LiDAR technology. It captures changes in space, condition and movement as an anonymised 3D point cloud. No image data, no faces and no conflict with the GDPR. This makes it suitable for areas where conventional video surveillance runs into legal or operational limits.

Security without image data. Precise, GDPR-compliant, zone-accurate.

‍

‍

Instead of a camera image, the LiCAM generates up to 29.5 million measuring points per minute and from these a three-dimensional representation of the monitored space. The sensor detects that a person is moving, where they are and which zone they enter. Who they are remains unknown. You divide the monitored areas into zones with their own rules, including time-controlled ones: a plant room stays locked around the clock, a self-service area only outside opening hours.

How the LiCAM
sees your site

‍

What the sensor delivers is not a recording but a point cloud: millions of measuring points that reveal ground, walls, equipment and movement. The highlighted zone in the video is one of several you define yourself.

If someone enters it, the zone is triggered. The detected person remains trackable throughout: you see which direction they came from, which route they took and which zones they crossed in sequence. What you can follow is the movement, not the identity.

Advantages of the LiCAM

With the LiCAM from NWS Digital you monitor sensitive areas without producing image data, shorten the approval process with works councils and data protection officers, and keep full control over which zones apply when. A solution that raises your security standards without raising questions about privacy.

Person detection without GDPR conflicts

No image data and no biometric features are created. The presence of a person is detected, their identity is not. This shortens coordination with works councils and data protection officers and makes monitoring possible where a camera cannot be enforced.

Developed for critical infrastructure and sensitive areas

Modern, small printers make it possible to quickly print visitor ID cards with minimal space requirements directly on-site– ideal for dynamic demands.

Complements your existing systems

The LiCAM works alongside access control, video technology and your control room, and replaces none of them. It closes the gaps those systems leave open, legally or technically.
